Bible Study on The Sermon on the Mount\

Wednesdays at 7 pm on zoom

"How beautiful upon the mountains are the feet of him who brings good news, who publishes peace, who brings good news of happiness, who publishes salvation, who says to Zion, 'Your God reigns.'" (Isaiah 52:7) This was Isaiah's announcement that God was going to return to His people to be their king again. Roughly 700 years later Jesus began his public ministry with a similar announcement, "From that time Jesus began to preach, saying, 'Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand'" (Matthew 4:17).  The kingdom that Isaiah could only see from a distance had arrived with Jesus. It was time for God to be His people's king once more.

This is the larger story into which Jesus' words, "Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven," fit.  The Sermon on the Mount is Jesus' teaching on God's kingdom: Who is in it? How are they called to live? What does this kingdom look like? Why are its citizens blessed?

Please join us for a 15-week Bible study on the Sermon on the Mount, during which we will answer these questions, talk about life in God's kingdom, and pray together for those concerns that believers share together as fellow citizens in the kingdom of God.
